UBATC down for maintenance: 2016-08-02 @ 11:00 PM Description: UBATC will be taken offline in order to install additional fiber strands for an upcoming 10 gig install.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: UBATC will be down for 1-2 hours.
Century Link Upgrades: 2016-08-03 @ 12:00 AM Description: Century Link is completing the last of their software upgrades to Geomax circuits.

Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: Cities that will be affected are Salt Lake, Washington, Ephraim, Ogden, Heber City, Park City, Grantsville, Tooele, Nephi, and Richfield.
Tegile Storage Array maintenance: 2016-08-04 @ 10:00 PM Description: We will be upgrading the software on our Tegile Storage Arrays in order to fix a bug that has caused several production outages.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed at 12:26 AM. Impact: We do not expect the upgrade to impact any services because we have redundant controllers that can be upgraded separately. The vendor's support engineer will be performing the upgrade. They have indicated to us the upgrade process is stable and straightforward. However, just to be safe, we have scheduled this maintenance during late evening in order to minimize the impact in the event something does go wrong.
Services that could possibly be affected ftp, web services and database services.
Network instability: 2016-08-13 @ 6:20 PM Description: There is instability within the Centracom Telco network which is affecting several circuits. A ticket is open and UEN is awaiting more information from Centracom.
Update: The datacenter where Centracom equipment is housed in American Fork had a cooling failure and was overheating, causing the sporadic connectivity. Additional cooling was installed, but connectivity is still unstable at the moment.
Update: This outage was resolved at 8:19 AM. Impact: Millard District, Snow College and several charter schools (Ranches, Spectrum, Liberty, Ascent Lehi, Athenian Delta) and others localized from UVU.
Eccles Broadcast to Downtown Data Center Upgrade: 2016-08-18 @ 11:00 AM Description: Networking Staff will be modifying the one of the network paths between EBC and DDC to add an additional 10 Gig of capacity as well as facilitate additional bandwidth growth in the future.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: There may be a slight disruption of services for traffic traversing the existing path as it is the preferred path between EBC and DDC. Due to the redundant nature on convergence times of the network, no noticeable outages are expected
UEN Web Applications Maintenance: 2016-08-23 @ 10:00 PM Description: UEN will apply security and OS patches to all production uen.org web application servers.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed at 10:53 PM. Impact: www.uen.org hosted applications, my.uen.org, and other hosted web applications will be unavailable for a few minutes each.
Database server patch: 2016-08-23 @ 9:45 PM Description: Apply security patch to PostgreSQL database servers
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: All UEN web hosted application that use PostgreSQL
Some Akamai Hosted Sites Offline: 2016-08-25 @ 3:00 PM Description: UEN is investigating reachability issues with what appears to be Akamai Hosted sites. We are continuing to determine the root causes, but we assume it's a greater Akamai issue and nothing we can resolve within the UEN Network.
We are confident that this is not a UEN Network or Backbone issue, but we are looking at everything to be sure. More updates will be posted as they become available.
Update: This outage was resolved at 4:13 PM. Impact: Various sites on the internet may be unreachable or slow in responding.
Akamai Update: 2016-08-26 @ 11:00 AM Description: We are still experiencing issues getting to some sites.
We have numerous tickets in with others and am working with Akamai engineers directly.
This is well beyond our network, we believe several IP ranges have been blackholed.
We continue to troubleshoot and exhaust all efforts.
Update: All,
UEN has identified an issue on our own network that has contributed to these issues. We have changed routing on our backbone to restore service and all sites should once again be accessible. We are looking into the root cause, and will provide a more detailed update later this afternoon.
