Vintage Vessels

This series focuses on the restoration of classic boats, from vintage wooden runabouts to antique canoes. Travelling across Eastern North America, we will find and feature stories about the people who own and love classic boats. With a glimpse into the history of each craft, VINTAGE VESSELS will also showcase the craftsmanship that goes into maintaining and restoring these vintage vessels. From engine maintenance to hull repairs, to boathouse construction, VINTAGE VESSELS will feature everything related to owning and operating classic wooden watercraft. Visiting marinas, marine museums, collector events and shows, and restoration shops, VINTAGE VESSELS will be informative and entertaining viewing about the art and love for wooden boats.

    The collection of boats at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton New York are featured and we tour the 1903 La Duchesse, a gilded age two-story houseboat built for 19th century hotelier George C. Boldt. VINTAGE VESSELS tours the Boldt Yacht house and its collection of classic vessels. Then Vintage Vessels visits the Paul Blackley Boat company in Gravenhurst Ontario where they are restoring Henry Ford's 1924 race boat, Evangeline.
