Speaking and Listening (P4.SL)

Students will learn to collaborate, express and listen to ideas, integrate and evaluate information from various sources, use media and visual displays as well as language and grammar strategically to help achieve communicative purposes, and adapt to context and task.

Standard P4.SL.2:

Speak clearly and audibly in sentences of varying lengths to communicate wants, needs, experiences, thoughts, and emotions.
  • Nursery Rhyme - Old McDonald
Children will listen to Old McDonald as the adult points out the words in the rhyme.  Allow children to help point out the words as they are ready. Once your child(ren) knows the song and the motions, they will sing the song and control their movements to a designated space as they act out the animals.
  • Telling Stories
Children will take turns adding to stories.  You can pick a topic and start off by saying ?Once upon a time?? and then take turns embellishing and extending the story.  The goal is to pay attention to details, attend to one another while building their working memory, focusing their attention, and practicing self-control.
  • Weather
Children will look out the window to determine what the weather conditions are for the day and determine what clothes would help them be comfortable to dress in for the day.
