UEN Teacher Tips
It’s a dilemma every teacher faces: How do I create high-quality, engaging lessons for my students with limited planning time? Using pre-made teaching resources can help! UEN’s eMedia is a database full of free resources for Utah’s teachers. Whether you’re looking for a fully developed lesson plan or multimedia to enhance a plan you’ve already created, eMedia might have what you’re looking for. But with thousands of resources available in eMedia, how can you get to the ‘good stuff’ as quickly as possible? Here are four strategies that can help:
-
Monthly Highlights Collection - Visit the eMedia Curated Collections page to find a monthly highlights collection with resources that coincide with holidays and initiatives, like Constitution Day and Hispanic Heritage Month. Monthly featured collections, hubs, providers and groups are listed on UEN’s eMedia Product Page.
-
eMedia Hubs - Visit the eMedia Hubs page to link to recommended resources organized by content area, initiative, or technology platform. The content hubs with grey icons were created in collaboration with Teaching and Learning specialists at the Utah State Board of Education.
-
Search Within a Collection - There is a search tool on every page in eMedia that allows you to look for resources by keyword, but did you know you can also search within a collection? Visit any eMedia collection and enter keywords into the “Search Resources” box on the collection page.
-
Search Filters - Finetune your eMedia search results or sort through resources in a collection using the “Filter Resources” menu on the left-hand side of the page. You can filter by education levels, material type, media format and more!
