Centracom Network Outage: 2016-02-02 @ 7:30 AM Description: We are experiencing wide-spread outages of Centracom provided services including some backbone circuits. We are taking actions to restore the degraded backbone services, but directly connected centracom circuits may continue to have issues until the situation is resolved.

Update: UPDATE #1
We have shut down the degraded backbone link between RDC and SNO, this has restored partial service to that area, but we continue to see centracom connected sites offline in the area. Centracom is aware of the issues and are currently troubleshooting to determine what the cause of the outage is.
Still no ETR..
Update: This outage was resolved on time. Impact: Most outages are isolated to Central Utah: Tintic, Manti, Ephriam, etc.
Ciena - Metro Ring Maintenance: 2016-02-02 @ 11:00 PM Description: We need to replace a rectifier at our USU POP site.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: We do not expect any downtime, however, if something goes wrong the link betweek USU and EBC will drop. Traffic will reroute to other links.
Backbone BGP policy changes: 2016-02-02 @ 11:00 PM Description: Networking staff will be modifying some of it's Core BGP policies to accommodate changing needs of its customer base

Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: The maintenance should have little to no impact however there is a possibility of some brief instability as BGP routes reconverge
Emery Telcom Maintenance: 2016-02-09 @ 11:55 PM Description: Circuit ID 777-xxx-xxxx, 10 Gbps connection from Moab Vocational Center to USU Eastern – Blanding.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: Campus may experience up to a 30 minute outage during the three hour window for fiber repairs. At this time, it’s believed the fibers serving the college are not damaged and will not need to be repaired but, because others in the same fiber case are damaged, there is a possibility these will need to be included in the repair.
Ciena - Metro Ring Maintenance: 2016-02-11 @ 11:00 PM Description: UEN Field Engineers are replacing rectifier shelve at WSU.

USUE Power failure: 2016-02-16 @ 11:50 AM Description: Power issues at USU Eastern. They are looking into the cause.
Update: This incident has been temporarily fixed.
USUE had a UPS failure causing power loss to the Data Center onsite. Upon restoration of power, our main device had corrupt memory and it took a little time to manually restore the entire configuration via the console.
USUE continues to run on degraded power, and the UPS is currently not in service. We will update you more as we get more information.
We will also be scheduling urgent maintenance to address the manner in which our device recovered, in order to ensure that it was not damaged and returns to normal operation when it loses power again. (To be scheduled)

Update: This outage was resolved at 5:04 PM. Impact: Power issues at USU Eastern. All circuits that connect to and through USU Eastern will be down.
Moab, Blanding will also be down.
Moab to Blanding BACKUP Path Maintenance: 2016-02-23 @ 8:00 AM Description: UEN will be moving the backup path radio dish to a new tower during this timeframe. This maintenance is necessary in order to keep providing this services.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: The Backup path between Moab and Blanding will be down during this time. No impact on traffic is expected during this maintenance, but the Moab to Blanding path will not be redundant for the duration of this maintenance.
Emery Telcom Maintenance: 2016-02-25 @ 2:00 AM Description: Description of Maintenance: Relocating equipment from and fiber cross connects from the C7 data center in Lindon, UT to ViaWest data center in Lindon, UT due to closure of the C7 facility
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: Circuit ID 777-xxx-xxxx, 10 Gbps connection from USU Eastern (Price) to UVU (Orem), will be down while existing trunk fibers are spliced into new patch panels and DWDM equipment is moved from one facility to the other.
The 1 Gbps connection from USU Eastern to USU Uintah Basin in Roosevelt will remain up during this maintenance.
Outage Types:
Outage: An observed outage, not scheduled.
Normal: A planned outage, 24 hours in advance.
Urgent: A planned outage, 12 hours in advance
Emergency: Immediate outage required
Third Party Maintenance: A planned outage performed by an organization other than UEN
