LV3 ASR Upgrades: 2015-11-03 @ 11:00 PM Description: We will be upgrading the 2 devices at our Level3 POP site. The devices will need to reboot several times to complete.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: All traffic heading out the Level 3 pop site will be disrupted during the reboots.
Central Utah Area Outages: 2015-11-10 @ 2:00 PM Description: UEN is experiencing intermittent outages in the Central Utah area. The outages are isolated to Centracom connected sites. We are working with Centracom to identify the issues and will provide more updates as information is provided to us.
Update: Centracom has identified the location of the issue, and they are working to replace a piece of hardware which should restore service. ETA for the equipment change is 30-90 Minutes. We will update you again once we hear back from them on their progress.
Update: Centracom has replaced the equipment and all services have returned to normal. We will continue to monitor the situation until we get an official stability report from them.

Update: This outage was resolved at 4:45 PM. Impact: Most Centracom connected sites are experiencing moderate to severe packet-loss and latent connectivity. This includes sites in the following general areas: Tintic, Manti, Ephriam, Nephi, Sevier, and a number of other sites Utah County.
Until they can identify the issue, these sites will continue to have intermittent connectivity issues.
CentraCom Maintenance: 2015-11-13 @ 4:00 AM Description: CentraCom will be doing maintenance.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: We expect about a 15 minute outage affecting data, voice and video service on the entire CentraCom network during the maintenance window while crews install the equipment. Please contact CentraCom with any questions regarding this maintenance event. Please call if you experience service interruptions after the maintenance window (13 November, 4:00 AM)
Major SLC Area Outage: 2015-11-14 @ 3:00 PM Description: UEN is experiencing a major outage of service in the Salt Lake City area. All sites connected via CenturyLink circuits are impacted within the Salt Lake Valley. We are working with CenturyLink to restore service as quickly as possible. We currently have no ETR.
More updates are forthcoming.
Update: CenturyLink is continuing to work on the issue. They have narrowed down the issue, but we still do not know when they will be able to restore service. We are working closely with them to resolve the issues and will provide more information as it becomes available.
Update: This outage was resolved on time. Impact: All Internet services for these connected sites is currently non-functional
Large outage: 2015-11-16 @ 3:00 PM Description: Cause is being investigated.
Update: Century Link is reporting that this is a fiber cut. There is no current ETR. Updates to follow.
Update: UPDATE:
CenturyLink has located the Fiber Cut in West-Magna, and are proceeding to send splicers to the area. The cut was reportedly caused by a boring company doing work in the area and drilled into a large bundle of fiber.
The outage is quite large, it includes major portions of the Tooele Valley, along with sites throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
Thank you for your patience, and rest assured that UEN, CenturyLink, and the other Providers are working as quickly and efficiently as possible to restore this service.
We will get an ETR once they can actually start splicing the fiber. We'll pass that along as soon as we hear from them. They will restore service in priority order: 911, HealthCare, Telephone, and then UEN.

Our contacts with CenturyLink have informed us that the damage to the Fiber Conduit is significant and it has slowed the progress. We have unofficial reports that they are starting the splicing soon, and they anticipate restoration of service within the next 2 hours. This is of course unofficial, but the best information we have at the moment and the first general ETR we have heard.

We have received word that they are actively splicing and that we should see most service restored within the next 30-60 min. After things come online, we will do extensive testing to ensure that all systems are clean from errors etc.

Update: UPDATE 6:
They continue to experience issues restoring service. New ETR is now 4:30a or later. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Update: UPDATE #7:
All reports are that services are close to being restored, They have run into issues throughout the overnight which have delayed the progress. They are having to splice two ends of over 300 strands of fiber. There have been more than 80 people on the scene of this outage working in various ways to restore services.
Hopefully the next update will be when service is restored.
We have crossed the 6a timeframe, and until they get this fixed, early morning Video Classes may be impacted.

Update: UPDATE #8
SERVICE IS RESTORED
UEN is showing full recovery of services as of 6:22a We are still running tests to make sure that the links are stable, but everything so far shows that there are no issues with the circuits. Please report in to the UEN NOC if you are noticing problems with your connections following this maintenance.
I will send out another update later today once we get all of the details regarding the outage.

Update: This outage was resolved at 6:37 AM. Impact: We have lost our connections to Granite, Tooele, Canyons, as well as Libraries and Charter Schools.
Code Bug: 2015-11-18 @ 11:00 PM Description: Due to a software bug that is affecting some core routing equipment, networking staff will need to upgrade code with the appropriate security and performance fixes.
Update: This maintenance will begin in 5 minutes.
Update: This maintenance completed at 12:59 AM. Impact: The affected devices are located in Layton, Moab, Price, and Blanding. The reloads will affect connectivity at these aggregation locations.
CenturyLink Fiber Repair: 2015-11-19 @ 11:55 PM Description: CenturyLink has informed us that they will be continuing the repair of the fiber damaged earlier this week. The fix earlier required them to lay fiber above-ground due to conduit damage. This damage has been repaired and CenturyLink will be moving fiber back into the conduit for a permanent solution.
This outage was sprung on is only a few minutes ago, but there are external forces being applied to CenturyLink to repair this service quickly.

Emery Telcom Maintenance: 2015-11-24 @ 2:00 AM Description: Repairs to a fiber splice case and re-splicing of fibers.
Update: This maintenance completed on time. Impact: Multiple fiber binder groups (12 fibers each) will be spliced over the two hour window with each binder taking 5 to 10 minutes and individual customers being impacted for a single 5 to 10 minute window.
